The Secret To A Successful Morning Ritual

We’ve all have heard of the amazing benefits of having a morning ritual, and have heard all of our favorite leaders and influencers say how important this is. But then we ask ourselves the biggest and most important question.

HOW DO I GET OUT OF BED EARLY AND DO THIS CONSISTENTLY?

I always asked myself this and tried multiple times to build a successful morning routine as some of you are as well. But after trying to do a morning ritual a few times, some of us just give up. It’s only natural, I mean if you have kids, are a single parent, work late, etc you are tired, and sacrificing more sleep is a hard decision to make. But let me tell you it’s worth it when you change one thing about your morning ritual.

By making this one change to how I approach my morning ritual, I can proudly say I’m successfully building my morning routine and enjoying it! As I write this article it’s thanks to my morning ritual. Ok, enough build-up,

“What’s the secret Kevin!”

Every time we think about our morning ritual we think about the things we SHOULD do and everything EVERYONE else does. We go in thinking that we NEED to do a morning routine to be successful or happy because that’s what everyone else says right? When we approach our morning routine with this mentality it starts to feel like a chore or a to-do list vs something that we can enjoy. As soon as I asked myself:

“How can I make my mornings awesome?”

This changed the trajectory of my mornings, it went from feeling like a drag and something I must do as a responsible adult to excited to wake up every morning and start my routine. I asked myself what can I do to get me excited to wake up early and enjoy doing my routine. By asking this question I began to come up with ideas that work for ME because a morning routine is unique to everyone.

I’m an avid learner and hardly have time throughout the day for this. I’m also a coffee snob, and really enjoy when I can drink a warm cup of coffee while doing something I enjoy vs drinking coffee on the go or working. I told myself, if I wake up early and get my morning routine done in time I will get to make my cup of coffee and learn something new before going to work. Now every night I go to bed, I feel excited to wake up because I know in the morning after I do my morning routine I’m going to sit down with a nice cup of warm coffee and learn something new in a subject I’m interested in.

Now ask yourself, what can you do to make your mornings more exciting? Yes, your morning routine might involve working out which can be painful first thing in the morning, but if you know something you enjoy comes next I promise you’ll want to knock out that workout right away.
